Chelsea Winters

Chelsea chose teaching yoga as a profession after injuries curtailed her studies as a classical cellist. Yoga was healing, and teaching was a way to share its benefits. She relocated back to her hometown of Woods Hole in 2013 and began offering yoga classes to the community. She draws on her experiences teaching athletes, college students, children, pregnant women, and yoga teacher trainees. Other important influences on her teaching include the Alexander Technique and Buddhist meditation practices. Her mentors include Eric Stewart and Clare Maxwell. Her credentials include Prenatal Registered Yoga Teacher (PRYT), Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200, RYT 500), and Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP).

Chelsea’s classes offer a “balanced diet” of poses and practices to build strength, flexibility, mindfulness, concentration, and the skill of true relaxation (yes, it’s a skill). Nourishing, restorative practices balance more challenging ones. Movement is contrasted with stillness. Body and mind are both invited to participate.
